Our Coastal Fertility Laboratory
Coastal Fertility Laboratory
Our central mission at Coastal Fertility Specialists is to help couples reach their reproductive goals through excellent reproductive endocrinology care in a compassionate and nurturing environment. In addition, we are proud to report our pregnancy rates are in the top 10% nationwide. Fulfilling our mission requires a high performing clinical laboratory team who communicates frequently to individualize patient care and address the unique aspect of assisted reproductive technologies.
For those reasons, Coastal Fertility Specialists has a fully accredited embryology laboratory and has recruited some of the best laboratory specialists in the country to create a team built around the core principle of developing and maintaining a “cutting- edge” embryology, endocrinology and andrology laboratory. The team is lead by our onsite, high complexity laboratory director, Dr. Jeff Gray, PhD, HCLD.
Coastal Fertility Specialists has chosen and passed the highest standards in laboratory accreditation. We are members of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) and are fully accredited as a high complexity laboratory from the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA), the College of American Pathologists (CAP), The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF). We comply with all local, state and federal guidelines.
Our Lab Director
Meet Jeffrey Gray, PhD, HCLD, TS
Dr. Jeffrey Gray is a clinical scientist and researcher in all aspects of assisted reproductive technology including embryology, andrology and endocrinology. In 2004, Dr. Gray began as a researcher at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill investigating how mechanisms of fertilization can be altered during in vitro fertilization and how to improve in vitro fertilization rates.
Dr. Gray presented at international meetings on the subjects of embryology and andrology and developed the laboratory protocols for the first onsite urology practice within a fertility center. He has been heading up the Coastal Fertility Embryology Lab since 2017 during which time, he and our lab were awarded Donor Egg Bank USA’s Seal of Quality Assurance.
“I am passionate about providing our patients with the highest level of care available in assisted reproductive technology,” says Dr. Gray. “We hold ourselves to the highest standards, continually analyzing the effectiveness of what we do and how we do it in order to stay on the forefront of advances in medical science. Patients can take comfort in knowing that they will receive the same level of care I provided to my own family, and there is no safer place for their embryos than being stored alongside the Laboratory Director’s.”
During his free time, Dr. Gray enjoys spending time with family outdoors, gardening and cooking.
