Big News! We are so excited to welcome our newest physician, Dr. Carrie Riestenberg to the Coastal Fertility Specialists’ family.
Dr. Carrie Riestenberg has joined the Coastal Fertility Specialists team as of July, 2022. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Riestenberg is honored to take care of women and help couples achieve their ultimate goal of having a family.
“I’m delighted to be joining such an esteemed team of physicians, nurses and staff at Coastal Fertility,” says Dr. Riestenberg. “Helping people overcome challenges in order to build their families and have a child they might not otherwise be able to conceive is my life’s work. I feel very fortunate to be able to continue this important mission at Coastal Fertility Specialists.”
Dr. Riestenberg completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara, where she was voted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society by her peers for her excellence in clinical care, leadership, compassion and dedication to service. She was also recognized for her research on the effects of subclinical hypothyroidism on in vitro fertilization outcomes, winning the Kaiser Permanente Best Scientific Study, and receiving the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine Residency Award for Excellence in Obstetrics. This was followed by a three-year fellowship specializing in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the UCLA Medical Center.
Dr. Riestenberg’s research focusing on polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), endometrial receptivity, and preimplantation genetic testing of embryos (PGT-A) has been published in leading journals including Fertility and Sterility and The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
“Dr. Riestenberg is a wonderful addition to the Coastal Fertility team due to her extensive Reproductive Endocrinology training and great interpersonal skills,” says Dr. John Schnorr, Reproductive Endocrinologist and Co- founder of Coastal Fertility Specialists. “Combined with our world-class embryology laboratory, Dr. Riestenberg will help extend the care we are providing not only in Charleston and Mt. Pleasant, but around the state.”
Dr. Riestenberg is passionate about patient education and is committed to helping each patient achieve their family-growing goals through informed, shared decision making. Additionally, along with the other Coastal Fertility physicians, including: Co- Founders Dr. John Schnorr and Dr. Michael Slowey and also with Dr. Heather Cook and Dr. Jessica McLaughlin, Dr. Riestenberg is now a faculty member at the Medical University of South Carolina. She will begin seeing patients in August.
Dr. Riestenberg currently lives in Mount Pleasant with her husband, son, and French Bulldog.
