Meet Dr. Michael Slowey
Dr. Michael Slowey is a Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinologist and co-founder of Coastal Fertility Specialists.
Education
Dr. Slowey received all three of his degrees (BA, MS, MD) from the University of Tennessee. After graduation, he moved to San Diego, CA, where he completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the US Naval Hospital. Dr. Slowey’s fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility was completed at the Michael Reese Hospital/University of Illinois program in Chicago.
Dr. Slowey holds Board Certifications in General Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Slowey is also an active member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Society for Assisted Reproductive Technologies, and the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Experience and Awards
Dr. Slowey has been in practice over 30 years, and in the Lowcountry since 2009. His experience includes being Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA , and a member of Reproductive Medicine Associates of New Jersey (RMA) for 8 eight years.
Dr. Slowey has focused his career on patient care and has been the recipient of numerous awards including the National Faculty Award for Excellence in Resident Education from the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1995, being listed in the New York Metro Area Top Doctors for 7 years (2002-2008), New York Magazine’s Top Minimally Invasive Surgeons (2002), NJ Savvy’s Top Doctors for Women (2005-2008), New Jersey Life’s Top Doctors (2004 &2005), listed in America’s top Ob/Gyn’s by the Consumer Research Council of America for 7 years (2004-2012) and being included in US News Top Reproductive Endocrinolgists in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Slowey’s clinical interests include mechanism of follicular selection, recurrent pregnancy loss, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, and the impact of GnRH analogs on ovarian function and implantation. Dr. Slowey has lectured extensively on these and other related topics, and has authored several original research articles and abstracts that have appeared in major medical journals.
Personal
Dr. Slowey has been married to his wife Karin for over 20 years and they have three children, Erin, Meghan and William.
