Our Charleston fertility specialist team is led by Dr. John Schnorr, Dr. Michael Slowey and Dr. Heather Cook who are board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology as well as in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Along with Dr. Jessica McLaughlin, they have over 70 years combined clinical experience in some of the premiere centers in the United States. Their combined experience has resulted in them performing over 20,000 ovulation induction and intrauterine insemination cycles, 9,000 in-vitro fertilization and donor egg cycles. This experience helps us individualize patient care by anticipating treatment responses so we can optimize the approach to improve outcomes.

In an effort to put a high quality reproductive endocrinology care within your area, we have developed five office locations in Mount Pleasant, North Charleston, Columbia, Myrtle Beach and Savannah, GA. Through this approach, 95% of your care can be performed within minutes of your home or office.
Coastal Fertility Specialists is the annual organizer and host of The Donor Egg Meeting in Charleston, South Carolina where leading specialists from all over the world have been attending. Through our annual participation in this meeting we have developed an amazing IVF and Egg Donation Program utilizing the latest blastocyst culture and transfer techniques to maximize pregnancy rates. Please check out The Donor Egg Meeting web site at www.thedonoreggmeeting.com.
Drs. Schnorr, Slowey, Cook and McLaughlin also constitute the Reproductive Endocrine Division of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), which in 2019, for the fifth consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report named MUSC Health the No. 1 hospital in South Carolina. Our association with MUSC brings the resources of one of South Carolina’s finest universities to our practice. By appropriately selecting from the most advanced diagnostic tools, we work to determine the underlying cause of infertility. From there, we develop an individualized plan to give every couple the best chance of achieving a successful pregnancy.
Coastal Fertility Specialists has a group of experienced registered nurses to coordinate and help the physicians monitor your progress every step of the way. They provide you with ongoing assistance and answer your questions as your journey progresses. Our financial counselors will be available to provide assistance with insurance and payment issues.
Our experienced team at CFS has helped thousands of individuals, couples and same-sex partners realize their dream of having a baby. We offer the full range of fertility treatments, from the simplest interventions to the latest and most advanced options including In Vitro Fertilization, pre-implantation genetic diagnosis, and cryopreservation of eggs, sperm and embryos.
Another important aspect of our practice at Coastal Fertility Specialists is fertility preservation. This may help individuals preparing for cancer treatment or those seeking to delay reproduction. As a fellow, Dr. Schnorr was awarded the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s Highest Award, the “General Program Prize Paper” in San Diego in October 2000 for his research on ovarian tissue cryopreservation. This has led him to initiate programs in ovarian tissue cryopreservation, ovarian transplantation and oocyte cryopreservation here in the Lowcountry.
Most recently, Dr. Schnorr has worked hard to develop an oocyte cryopreservation (egg freezing) program and is proud to be the physician with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd babies born in South Carolina from oocyte cryopreservation.
