In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Success Rates
Success to Coastal Fertility Specialists means high quality patient care measured by patient satisfaction and high pregnancy rates. Evidence of our high quality patient care is our 3 consecutive national patient satisfaction awards. Understanding success measured by pregnancy rates can be more complicated as In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) success rates depend on a number of different factors, including patient age, ovarian reserve, and the infertility diagnosis.
At Coastal Fertility Specialists our pregnancy rates are among the top in the country. Our high IVF success rates come from a passionate belief that you are a unique individual and therefore your care must be individualized to address your age, ovarian reserve, cause of infertility and reproductive history. Depending on the diagnosis, individualization at Coastal Fertility Specialists involves using a variety of adjunctive hormonal agents such as testosterone to improve egg number and growth hormone to improve egg quality. We also use different medical procedures to improve pregnancy rates such as Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) for male factor infertility, intentional “freeze all” cycles to improve uterine receptivity and preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) to improve embryo selection.
We also believe the quality of the lab matters. It actually matters a lot! Focusing all of our attention and resources in one embryology lab has given us a significant advantage. The high quality of Coastal Fertility Specialists care continues with our “cutting edge” embryology laboratory headed up by our onsite, high complexity laboratory director, Dr. Jeff Gray, PhD, HCLD, TS. The laboratory uses the latest third generation embryo incubators coupled with the use of embryo isolettes to minimize the amount of time an embryo is out of its normal physiological environment. Embryo biopsies for genetic testing are performed when necessary along with vitrification techniques to maximize egg and embryo cryopreservation survival.
How Can You Understand a Center’s Specific Pregnancy Rate?
In order to provide the highest level of care for you, we are proud members of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) and report our annual pregnancy rates to SART. SART then performs random audits verifying results and publishes our results and other center’s results in an easy to understand format. Please click here to view our 2020 assisted reproductive technology success rates. There are many variables to consider and we are happy to guide you through that discussion during your new patient consult.
We are proud of our pregnancy rates. To help you understand the impact of our individualized patient care on our patients’ pregnancy rates, we have added our most recent pregnancy rates from the year 2021. Below is a graph of the clinical pregnancy rate (pregnancy within the uterus with fetal cardiac activity at 7 weeks of pregnancy) from the use of the first embryo transferred from an egg retrieval during the calendar year 2021. Please note that not every patient starting a cycle had an embryo available for transfer. Please see our SART report for pregnancy rates per cycle start.

Please note: A comparison of clinic success rates may not be meaningful because patient medical characteristics, treatment approaches and entrance criteria for ART may vary from clinic to clinic.
IVF success rates also vary from person to person based upon the cause of your infertility. As a result, we recommend that you contact us for an infertility consultation to get the best estimate of your personal chances for IVF success.
IVF Success: Our IVF Laboratory
Our doctors, Drs. Schnorr, Slowey, Cook, McLaughlin and Riestenberg, have developed a “state of the art” laboratory to help you get pregnant with us here at Coastal Fertility Specialists. Our lab was developed with the help of Kathy Miller, HCLD, one of the leading embryologists in the nation. Our laboratory equipment includes next generation triple gas incubators, isolettes to protect the eggs, sperm, and embryos along with microscopes mounted with lasers for specific procedures.
Coastal Fertility Specialists has chosen and passed the highest standards in laboratory accreditation. We are members of the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) and are fully accredited as a high complexity laboratory from the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA), the College of American Pathologists (CAP), The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF).
